Preventing damage – saving costs

“Once our primed coils have been unwrapped they are prone to damage on the floor”, explains Mark Hornsey, MD of Hornsey Steels. “We would have to remove the whole first lap of the steel on the roll. The Wickens racks have meant we don't have to waste any of the roll – it has saved us about £50,000 a year in lost stock .”

Space Saving

Wickens designed a heavy duty racking system which allows the coils to be stored off of the floor. Not only does this protect them from damage, it also allows Hornsey Steels to use their space more effectively. By making use of the height available they have increased their space by 25%.

Quality in design and manufacture

Mark was also impressed with the standard of the Wickens racking. “It's good quality and I was pleased with how well it went together. Having a strong and durable product which is effective is important to us and we have got that from the Wickens racking.”
